Interior-Decorating

Effortless Home Decoration for Everyday People

Hello! Sarah (Brehm) Sherman here - not to be confused with the the much more famous designer Sarah Sherman Samuel.  If you’re looking for her, congrats to my SEO, but you’ve definitely taken a wrong turn. If you did mean to find me, YAY!  Glad you're here.

hello (again)- thrilled you're still here! A little bit about me:

By day,  I’m an agency business owner,  a wife, and a mom to two energetic boys. My true passion, though, lies in interior decorating. I get a thrill (my husband does not) from re-arranging furniture in my home and others, wandering through every aisle of Home Depot, and perusing FB Marketplace in my free time.  What started as a few side projects has grown into a side hustle thanks to the nudge of a few close friends and family members.

Listen: I am in no way a certified interior designer, but I do have 30+ years experience learning; as this has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember.  I like to help people who have a casual and flexible style like I do, and offer fair prices in exchange. I have an eye for good design and making spaces cozy and functional without the long waits for furniture deliveries (I’m way too impatient for that!). I love hunting for hidden gems on Facebook Marketplace, HomeGoods, Target, and at estate sales.

So whether you’re dreaming of a room makeover or just need a fresh look with what you already have, I’d love to help. Schedule a free 20-minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit!

what to expect from me

View Recent Work

Casual, timely approach

With 15 years in client service,  success here comes naturally. But between this, my day job and family life, flexibility is key.  I work best with those who understand this and are okay with a casual voice text or phone call vs formal email.

Easy purchasing options

I opt for quick local shopping over waiting months for delivery. Browsing nearby outlets and Facebook Marketplace lets us avoid return hassles and see the finished product together sooner.

Satisfaction, guaranteed

I always aim for the best end product and am results-driven to my core. If you are unsatisfied at any point (within reason), I'll refund your money no questions asked.

How things (generally) work:

every process will look different, but in general- here's what to expect:

Virtual Introduction

Let's chat for 20 minutes to get to know each other and talk about your project, budget, and timing.  A good way to get a good feel if we're a good fit for each other!  From here, if you decide you'd like to move forward, I will send you a list of questions for our next meeting.

In-Home Consultation

I will come to your home in-person (or via video meet if remote!) so I can see the space in person, go over the questionnaire, and ask/answer questions. I will also take measurements and photos that will help me build out renderings.

Detailed Proposal + Timeline Review

I will put together a proposal and contract for your review and signature based on the options outlined below. Down payment will be due upon signature, and payment schedule will be as follows:

  • 40% upon signature
  • 40% after renderings
  • 20% upon completion

Work Begins!

Then we officially kick off!  Pending on what option you select to move forward with, the deliverables and process for the work itself will vary- but rest assured you'll know what to expect every step of the way.

south minneapolis bungalow kitchen remodel

before

This 1925 South Minneapolis home has all the beautiful charm and solid structural bones homeowners dream of,  but our client was eager for a kitchen refresh. As an avid cook, she wanted a space that maintained the integrity of the home, while refreshing its look, feel and functionality.  She provided "english cottage kitchen" and "as much storage as possible" as the inspiration-  let's just say.. enough said! With her great eye for good design and detail, we collaborated to design a fun-sized kitchen of her dreams.

This project is still work in progress, but below is how we're planning to renovate her space starting in November.

after-ish (WIP)

New cabinets that go to the ceiling, cozy paint,  (Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore might be the world's best kept secret?!) hand-crafted tile, soapstone tile AND refurbished wood floors is going to transform this space into the coziest, most functional and aesthetically pleasing kitchen in town.

The power of smart tools that can help me generate realistic photos like these is truly game-changer, but will of course be posting "actual" afters once complete. Stay tuned!

edina dining room refresh

before

Paul and Enchi loved the natural sunlight flooding their dining area and the easy access to the patio, making it perfect for entertaining. They relocated their dining room to the original living room to capture this ambiance but felt it needed a touch of warmth.

Our task was to enhance the cozy atmosphere while preserving key elements like their table and chairs. Through strategic design adjustments, we successfully transformed their space into a welcoming and inviting dining area without sacrificing the features they cherished.

after

To give this space a more "cozy" feel that utilized the amount of space in the dining room, we added in some basic "grounding" elements to help give the room some dimension. An extra long console table on the longer wall not only gave them additional light, but also a place to add in some aesthetic elements to make it feel more warm, welcoming and lived-in.   The console and mirror on the shorter wall next to the fireplace not only provided an aesthetic improvement, but also functionality as a place to store shoes and other items on their way outside. The mirror was added intentionally to add more length to the space, and reflect in some of the sunlight from the east.

The rest of the main floor  is currently in progress to bring everything together. Stay tuned for updates!
